Issue SummaryDAREDEVIL #12 PreviewMatt and Kirsten are on their first date at an amusement park. Kirsten asks Matt to blindfold her with a scarf, so she can be led around the park by Matt, and to let her experience how Matt enjoys the world. Matt recounts how Kirsten has been playfully saying Matt is Daredevil. He also lets the reader know about how dangerous Megacrime still is, so he's got Spider-Man looking after them. Matt trusts his radar sense that Spidey is above on a ledge... but it's not... it's a member of Black Spectre. Matt tells Kirsten the story of how he first met Foggy in college, and why the nickname of 'Foggy' applied (because of his foghorn-like snoring). In college, Foggy and Matt had a class with Professor Leopold York, a stroke victim who had empathy for Matt, but had no patience for "old money" Foggy. He did not treat Foggy well at all. The Professor accused Foggy of plagiarizing a paper and had Foggy expelled. Matt visited the Professor's office to defend his friend. Upon hearing the "evidence" from the Professor, Matt tells him he is lying. Professor York states that if Matt proceeds with this challenge, he will expell him as well. Matt has a plan... A week later, Matt and Foggy walk into class, and Matt locks the door with a chain. He then starts a mock trial of "York vs Nelson", and the class is the jury. Matt then accuses York of plagiarizing Foggy's paper himself to create the "evidence". But York finds a loophole with Matt's arguments... until... Foggy presents evidence that the handwriting on the papers is exactly the same as York's. York knows he is beaten and mutters that he will see the two in class next week. Afterwards, nothing more was ever said and Foggy passed York's class.
Now walking home, Matt and Kirsten enter an alley and are about to embrace when the Black Spectre agent surprises them both and announces that his "guardian angel"
(Spider-Man) has been diverted, and that the newly reborn Black Spectre are coming for Matt. He then laughs and disappears.
