Issue Summary

Summary by Eric Shaw

Amidst the wreckage of the Owl's battered helicopter, an unconscious Daredevil sinks into the Hudson River. Of course he is still really thinking of Karen all the way to the river bottom. The Owl is seen gliding away gloating! And Karen is shown swooning as TV images of the helicopter wreck are beamed around the city. And one more player is observed this night. A mysterious female steps from her Rolls Royce parked on the docks and jumps into the waters. It's the Black Widow! She reaches our non-aquatic hero in just the nick of time! But police sirens chase off the Widow and Ivan as a recovered DD is left wondering who saved him while the Black Widow thinks that he is just an ungrateful male.

Back at the Owl's lair, a video debriefing with a Mr. Kline is making it clear that the Owl was supposed to capture ol' Horn Head not kill him. They break their partnership and the Owl is left to his thoughts of his own grandeur while surrounded by imbeciles. Our scene turns back towards Karen who has recovered from the shock of Matt's supposed death and she and Phil take solace in each others arms. But as the book says let's not make judgments.

Back at an ominous house Mister Kline (or MK-9) reports to an unseen voice. Mr. Kline arranged for the Black Widow to be on the docks at just the right time in order to facilitate a romantic entanglement (again this is what the book says, not me). The hope is for Matt Murdock to be neutralized while Foggy is under blackmail pressure. The unseen voice then tells Mr. Kline that he no longer needs to have an androids designation, but can instead be known as ASSASSIN!

Oh but this is a Daredevil story after all and our hero eventually shows up Foggy's place bedraggled and collapses!

Again a change of scene brings us to hypersonic car designed by the Owl ramming into the Treasury Building. The Black Widow hears the commotion and cuts short her financial consultation. She launches into a full assault on the robbers! DD hears the sirens in the distance and abruptly leaves Foggy apartment. Catching a ride on top of a cab, Daredevil leaps into the fracas and quickly knocks out the Owl. The Widow reveals that she was the one who saved DD earlier just as he blacks out again.

A final scene change shows us ASSASSIN disappointed the Owl and shedding his trench coat he stalks of to find the Silent Ones, the one who sleep!
