As a child, Duc No Tranh watched as American soldiers destroyed his Vietnamese village. Seeking revenge, he tried to climb aboard an American helicopter, but he was kicked off by Private Janes, despite the pleas of other soldiers aboard. Years later, as the costumed Bengal, he traveled to America to kill all the soldiers involved in the destruction of his village. Willie Lincoln, a member of the platoon, asked Daredevil to protect him. Bengal was defeated by the hero, but managed to escape. He later teamed with Bullet, Big Ben and Tombstone against the Marvel Knights.
