Issue Summary

Summary/Review by Michael Deeley

The Owl has hired a gang from Chicago called The Bombers to help him take over the crack trade in Hell's Kitchen. They're going to steal the brown shopping bags the Cannibals use to drop off drugs and replace them with bags wired to explode. Then they'll blackmail the Cannibals and sell back their cocaine. The Bombers make fun of The Owl and his old style, until they watch him glide out of their helicopter.

The bum and his baby, (last seen in 'Daredevil' #252), just happen to be near a garbage can the Cannibals use as a drop off point. The bum doesn't notice the drop, nor the switch the Bomber makes. So he finds a "perfectly good shopping bag" and puts the baby inside. The Cannibal sees his "pick up" and grabs the bag, baby and all. Other exploding bags have attracted Daredevil's attention. The Cannibals are blaming the Bloods, and DD's afraid a gang war could break out. DD busts in on the meeting between Cannibals, Blood, and Bombers, and mops the floor with all of them. The Owl, watching from a ledge, applauds DD for humiliating these punks with his "old-style". The Owl and Daredevil fight, of course. Owl gets away by endangering the bum.

DD figures out the bum's baby is in one of the bags. Straining his ears to the limit, he listens for the ticking of the bag bombs. The last one he finds has the baby. After Daredevil returns the baby, he ponders how the old ways let The Owl get away, but reunited a baby with a bum. That's all right by him.
