I was re-reading Brubaker's first run, "Devil in Cell Block D." If I'm not mistaken, this story introduces Chico and Merv. Are these two modeled after comedians Patton Oswalt and Brian Posehn? I know both Oswalt and Posehn are comic book guys, and the characters bear a striking resemblence to them. Has there been an interview with any of the Daredevil creators or the comedians that confirm this?

I think I remember reading that somewhere, but I'm not sure where.

Yes, they are Oswalt and Posehn.
Editors Alejandro Arbona and Warren Simons also appeared during Brubaker's run too (as did Brubaker himself).

Michael Lark also. Also, I'm not 100% sure, but I think Djurdjevic appeared as well.

I remember seeing Brubaker in there. Does anyone remember when Lark and Djurdjevic appeared? I've probably looked right at them and never noticed.

Michael Lark was one of the would-be thieves from the poker game in the opening pages of DD #82. He's the unarmed one that picks up a plank of wood and gets kicked across the roof in a comedic fashion. I was completely unaware that Ed Brubaker made an appearance. Does anyone know the specific issue? I feel left out.

Another interesting fact about Chico and Merv is that they are intended to be stereotypical Bendis and Miller characters, respectively.

Brubaker appears later in his first storyarc. He's the inmate who gets the crap beaten out of him by the Punisher in the canteen.

Djurdjevic appears in the "Without fear" storyarc, he's one of the Ox's henchmen, the one who starts shooting when the police arrives in a meeting between gangs.

Thanks, I'll have to watch out for those two next time I'm reading Brubaker's run. It reminds me of how Alfred Hitchcock would cameo in his movies. It's so brief and subtle, but awesome once you catch it.
