Me? My first encounter of DD was the live-action movie. Since watching that, I started reading the comics. Today, he is my #1 favorite superhero because we're almost alike.

I've always known he was there. But I would have to say my first encounter was #300 which my brother bought when it came out. I don't even remember the story but it made me want to know more. I never seriously got into Daredevil until about 2 years ago when I found one of the oversized hardcover for cheap and was taken by the story that was told.

I needed something to read on a trip and I found a Daredevil pocketbook which had reprints of Wally Wood Daredevils in black and white. Then I picked up Daredevil #219 off the stands and worked my way forwards and backwards and now have them all. And I spend way more time than I should updating a certain website every day. Wink

My brother and I had a flyer route and we got two comics as a reward or prize or something. My brother (being older) took the Spider-Man issue and I got Daredevil #247.

Issue 223 (i think) where Matt meets the Beyonder. Not quite sure if it's nostalga or not, but it's still one of the best stand alone story in the entire run.

For me it was #177 in the early fall of 1981. Not only was this issue my first encounter with Daredevil, it was also, significantly, my first exposure to Frank Miller's indelible work.

Daredevil #187.

I was six, so we're talking early '90s here. I remember seeing a stack of comics while at a friend-of-the-family's house, and he showed me them. One of them was Daredevil #187. That night essentially kick-started my love affair with comics, but it was my first time seeing Daredevil.

The cover drew me in and when I found out the dude was blind, I was just sucked in.

I got comics bought for me on the regular as I was too young to go buy them myself, and eventually here I am.

Daredevil was one of the first superhero comics I bought, issues 61-68 by Roy Thomas and Gene Colan, I liked it just because of the art and the action!
But then I began collecting all the first issues and I really discovered my favorite superhero and the best of all them! Very Happy

As a little kid I would leaf thru DD in the early JR jr. / Ann Nocenti days and would see blood and nothing fun and flashy and superhero-y, it was all crime & depressing looking stuff so I never bought it, in fact I didn't know who would.

Then I got a big grab bag bundle of comics by mail once and DD 260 was in it. Talk about a mind-blowing comic book. Never had I seen anything like it. Later I bought Born Again trade paper back and it was the first time a comic mystified me by being so deep and just word for word linguistically amazing, and yet story-wise, so far over my head as a [sharp] 11-year-old. I was fascinated by it, became a fan, and began collecting with the awesome "Blind Boxer" storyline 283-291, as well as bought 181 and assorted back issues. Miller's "Man Without Fear" soon solidified me for life with the character.
