I hate to continue to be a bit off topic, but Sleeper was excellent. And they just re-released the entire run in two trades - season 1 and season 2 - originally, they were released in four 5-6 issue tpbs. _________________ https://twitter.com/tburnham7

Yeah, I heard about that - sounds like that's the best way to get hold of them.
There's a movie in production too, isn't there? |

I believe I remember Brubaker mentioning that it may have been in talks at some point but I'm not sure what the status is or was at the time. _________________ https://twitter.com/tburnham7

I really liked the issue -- like one of the above poster mentioned, it looks like Diggle is starting off slow with the plot.
One thing I can't let go after reading it twice -- did anyone notice that Dakota says she's going to punish herself by eating a donut, and then puts the donut back in the box uneaten.
Symbolism, perhaps?
OK, off to get some rest,

Actually, that's the impression I got as well. Especially when you consider the dialogue about Matt in that panel. Interesting.....
Still, a decent start for the new creative team. The art is terrific and suits the material very well. I like how the involvement of the two cops & judge was explained more beyond the List one-shot. (Also, lifting Tan's close-up of the judge to use as the front-page piece of the paper's on Foggy's desk was slick) The last page.....whoa. Chilling to a degree.
But I need some clarification though. From #500, I understood it to be that Izo and Matt agreed for him to assume command of the Hand so as to turn the Hand back into what the group once represented when Izo belonged to them (whatever that may be). Or more simply, change how the Hand operates.
Did I read that right? If so, then the dialogue between Matt and Izo at the beginning was a sham put on for the nearby Hand ninjas (and thus what I hope is a sham put on over what happened to Izo later on)?
And yes! The return of a letters page! |

Love it!
was pleasantly surprised...can't wait till the next issue..I think the new creative team has a solid hold on DD after only one issue together...
One thing I was wondering about...toward the end of the book while Matt is talking to a hanging izo...something is dripping off of of matts hand...probably just symbolism of blood on his hand or actual blood where he was beating on izo...or..could it be the blood we see on izo after Matt pummeled him across the room?...faking his death?..
or could it be I'm reading way too much into it wishing that Matt hasn't embraced the way of Cain...
anyway a great book and I second the return of the letters page..man I really did come back to comics at the right time...especially daredevil.

i really liked the issue. like Francesco, i'm looking forward to DD getting back to some a$$kickery. i hope that Izo's death was faked, it seems to me that Matt will need him as a moral ballast while in charge of the hand.
one thing that i was curious about was when Izo mentioned a conversation that he had with Stick about Matt being 1 of 2 people that were capable of taking down the Hand. couldn't help but wonder who the other one was. |

I'm glad you share my sentiments on this, Train.
Anyway, I'm more and more convinced that, yes, DD's radical conversion to the ways of the hand is a just a stratagem he's orchestrating along with Tarantula, White Tiger and Izo, in order to fool the Hand's lords. |

That was my thought. That would fit continuity. Although if it isn't, I guess that would be something else for Diggle to explore. _________________ https://twitter.com/tburnham7

I don't have the desire to dig thru back issues right now, but I was under the impression that Stick saw Elektra as a player for the Hand and not the Chaste. I remember Stick telling Matt that she was "dangerous" (or did I just imagine that?) That's why I didn't consider her as one of the two.
The quote from Izo reminded me of Yoda and Obi Wan talking in Empire Strikes Back when Yoda said "There is another." (referring to Luke being that last Jedi). I think it has some potential for a cool back story.... |

I think the whole "she's dangerous" stuff was in Man Without Fear where Elektra is more explicitly evil from the start. _________________ JC

I think Izo and Matt worked together to fake Izo's death. I mean, how hard would it be for them to do it? Not very.
As for who the "other" is, I doubt it's Elektra. Like someone else mentioned, Stick always considered her to much of a rogue and unpredictable. It would be cool to find out that Stick was grooming someone on the side that we have never seen or heard of before. |

Or maybe even that speech is part of the possible charade he and Daredevil are setting up, and doesn't actually reflect what he thinks about Elektra. |
