Hi I'm new to the board. My name is George and I'm a DD comic fan and collect some comic art as well.
Wondering if anyone is excited about Roberto De La Torre coming on for Michael Lark as main DD penciller along side writer Andy Diggle? I really liked De La Torre's work in Cap issue 39, as well as in the Thunderbolts. He maintains the somewhat dark and realistic style that Lark had but with his own spin. I think there are some dark times ahead and De La Torre's art should compliment that well.
Here is a Daredevil pin-up Roberto drew as a taste of the art to come: http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=551698&GSub=79804 |

Well I am very much excited about the new team. The Ribic covers are such a delight. I have not read any Diggle piece yet, but I am curious how he will handle the "burden" Brubaker left him with. I follow Diggle on Twitter and that's always weirdly fun. As for Roberto de la Torre, what I have seen from him so far pleased me. The one-page coloured preview of Daredevil #501 in Marvel Previews issue 72 was awesome! I was sad that Brubaker, Lark, and Djurdjevic had to leave, but I am also very excited about the coming of Diggle, de la Torre, and Ribic. _________________ "I'm only a DEVIL to those who are demonic." |

Hi and welcome, George!
Yeah, I'm excited about de la Torre! I mostly know him from all those Iron Man issues he did with the Knaufs a few years back. I thought they were great - good "realism" and anatomy, but with a cool stylized bent. I was feeling it.
I do remember, though, that some folks were saying at the time that he wasn't a good fit for a sci-fi "tech" book. Well, great! 'Cause I think he will be a good fit for DD and the new status quo.....!
I'll freely admit, too, that I've openly itched for change in the creative team. No knock on Lark - who is great! - I just like things a little more.....abstract?......implied?......something.... |
