Here are some Wikipedia snippets that make me think Hyde is our guy:

"The process that transforms Dr. Calvin Zabo into his Mr. Hyde persona is a hormonal one."

"He was a morally abject but brilliant medical researcher who was fascinated by the effect of hormones on human physiology."

--> As revealed in the last issue, there is a drug making these people crazy. Zabo would have the skills to make this drug which is very similar to his own ability/disability.

"During [a recent post-Civil War] battle with Spider-Man, Hyde pulled webbing off his face, taking his eyelids with it, and was hit in the face with hydrochloric acid, courtesy of one of his own guinea pigs. He was stated by Spider-man to have been left blinded and had his face ruined as a result."

-->Um, Hyde is blind! That's why he is so deep behind the scenes. Also, this may explain a renewed obsession with DD. He wants the guy as a specimen so he can biologically/chemically figure out how Matt gets around that darn blindness.

Also, I don't think it's Mr. Fear because what we're seeing is not fear but more of an animal rage.

I don't think it's Purple Man because how would he make a drug that can cause this reaction? (Hyde's biomedical background is much more suitable.)

You know, that's a possibilty. Zabo's scientist side has been explored very rarely.
Who knows, maybe Master Megalomaniac's desire to have Hyde as a more serious villain will be fulfilled.

Very good points, Forrest. I see where you're coming from. Also, I have noticed in comics like Sensational Spider-Man recently he has been more of a diabolical genius with the whole giving civilians powers and what not. He could definently be behind the crisis that is Matt Murdock's life.
