There, the title sums up what I think is wrong about this whole run.

Very true. They need to get Nathan Edmondson or Jason Aaron on this book but with all the hype Waid keeps getting I think we're gonna be stuck with him.Hopefully the Netflix series does DD some justice cause right now I have no place I can enjoy DD except for back issues. When did this happen though?

Hey, plenty of great heroes in fiction have fallen for the same thing. Luke Skywalker, for example.

That's not what I'm saying. Leaving beside the fact that a guy with radar sense and superhumanly acute senses should never ever fall for that sort of trap, what I'm saying is: a story featuring DD should NOT have something so trite and reminiscent of cartoons like the villain sitting in an armchair and activating a pit trap. It's stupid and DD should not have it.

The cons:

- Could Matt have felt the heat of the trap underneath his feet? Depends on how thick the floor is and what specific material the floor is made of.

- Could Matt have detected the hollow space beneath his feet via his radar sense? Again, depends on the composition of the floor.

- Matt should have been able to hear the 'click' of Owl pressing that button. Yet could Matt determine quickly what that 'click' activated?

The pros:

Striding boldly into the Owl's fortified stronghold, in his civilian guise no less, and daring to walk out with the Owl as his hostage, that's a bold and audacious plan, one I would give a Man Without Fear huge credit for attempting.

I prefer how Bendis used to handle the way Daredevil would enter the Owl's lair and defeat him.

I have to say that... (gulp) I've almost had enough of DD.
In truth, I haven't truly enjoyed many issues since Shadowland. Now he outs himself, moves to San Francisco... FALLS INTO A FREAKIN' PIT FOR PETE'S SAKE!!! Oh well, at least now all the bad guys know to always carry an air-horn on their capers, just in case they run into that superhero WHO TOLD THE WORLD HOW TO BEAT HIM!!! AAARRRGGGHHH!!!

I got into DD because of its sense of "noir"; it was a SERIOUS book with very little comic relief. Now we're fed drivel like this, and frankly I think Samnee's art is awfully childlike and I believe over-rated. It's like they're trying to capture the 7-10 year old demographic. So...

...if they mess up the Netflix show, I'm done. I'll turn my back on my biggest passion, give up 30 years of being commited to JUST ONE BOOK.

If I could have one wish, it would be for everything since Shadowland #1 to have just been some horrible nightmare!

Otherwise, watch this space for me advertising my collection on eBay!!!

Waid's DD run should be published by Archie or Hanna-Barbera

The Message Board is currently in read-only mode, as the software is now out of date. Several features and pages have been removed. If/When I get time I intend to re-launch the board with updated software.
