How did you guys feel about Denny O'Neil's run where put DD against Micah Synn?

Having been a DD fan for a number of years now, I can easily say that I really enjoyed those stories. Sure he's a bit Tarzan-ish and not really at all like the rest of DDs rogues gallery, but he did put the pressure on Matt BIG TIME. In fact, the cover to issue 212 where Kingpin and Daredevil stand side by side is one of my favourite.

Also, does anyone know if these issues will ever be reprinted in a TPB?

I've suggested for a long time that these issues should be collected in a trade paperback, especially since the story came out in non-consecutive issues. I think O'Neil's Daredevil work is unfairly overlooked, and it's some of the best ever.

When I first started collecting Daredevil, these stories by O'Neil and Mazzucchelli were amazing, and you could say they got me hooked. Wink

I'm surprised Marvel hasn't reprinted more of O'Neil's work, there are some really good stories.

I think Synn is an okay character, but it seems like they tried to take in a million different directions at once: he was a tarzan rip off, he was involved in a cult, he was a rival for Kingpin, a romantic rival for Foggy.

I think they should bring that cult back and make it darker, Daredevil vs. a cult is a very interesting story.

This storyline was my introduction to DD. I've been hooked ever since. Denny's story was great, but a lot of the credit must go to David Mazzucchelli. He got his start with this storyline, and also supplied some of DD's greatest covers ever during this run.

Great storyline - I remember reading these issues back in the day.

A perfect DD Omnibus would reprint issues #192 - #226; these were the ones that came out after Frank Miller's first run on the title, and before Born Again. Very underrated issues these days, and these include the entire Micah Synn story.

I would love to see these reprinted in a big omnibus or in smaller trades as well. A lot of great stuff written by Denny O'Neil plus William Johnson and David Mazzuchelli's artwork was top notch.

They weren't bad issues, but they were pretty outlandish. I had a hard time believing the story could actually happen... which is weird because Stilt-Man seems perfectly legitimate to me Razz
