Ugh. Okay....so let me get this straight.

Foggy tries (and succeeds) to climb an "impenetrable fortress," with a vertical wall? And that's the height of the action we get for this issue. *sigh*

Oh, and Ghost Rider is knocked out and tied up along with the rest of the heroes? So I guess we can disregard the Ghost Rider one-shot where Jonny Blaze was coming back to Shadowland and the Kingpin with a righteously-backed vengeance (after murdering every leader of the Hand). Come on, we got THREE editors on this title, and they don't see this blaring mistake?

This was the worst issue of these 15 issues. That's saying a lot.

Yep. Foggy climbing Shadowland was preposterous. On the other hand the Dakota North part was really cool. I like how this issue focused on the supporting cast. I think most of this site's users have been enjoying Daredevil's series more than Shadowland these days, and I think the supporting cast is a huge reason why.

One more issue of Daredevil. Time's aren't good.

That last page could've been SUCH an epic moment if everything had gone as it logically and creatively should've, in my opinion.

It's just such a pathetically mismanaged arc. It really is.

It's like the Kennedy assassination/Oswald.

Oswald is Daredevil, Shadowland is the Kennedy story and Marvel is the government.

The reason the two stories are hard to swallow is because the man supposedly causing it all is NOWHERE TO BE F*CKING SEEN.

This was meant to be about Daredevil, but what have we even seen or heard of him? His internal monologues used to tell SO much, but what have we had? **** all.

We've got Shadowland: Power Man...with a new Power Man, but we're still none the wiser as to how Daredevil is feeling.

I feel like the proverbial deer caught in the headlights.

I see the car coming, but there's nothing I can do about it.

I was pretty tired when I read this issue the first time, and didn't think about how ridiculous it was to have Foggy climb the fortress.

In my mind, I don't think the ending can redeem this story -- no matter how good it is. But I hope I am wrong.

I have to admit that I am kinda surprised how few replies there are to this thread.

I gave the issue a "C".

D.

Hollingsworth's colors will keep any issue from getting an "F" no matter how bad the art and/or story. It will be a sad day once he leaves the title.

I agree with the comments above. Foggy climbs the walls of a giant pagoda? Give me a break. There seems to be little to no coordination between the writers of the various tie-ins.

Hey Marvel, I understand times are tight, but people are looking for work. Hire some decent writers with stories to tell. Stop squeezing every drop of blood out of your staff. It's showing in their work.

I do not like Shadowland at all, but the DD main book is still good. It's as well written and drawn to me as Brubaker's stories. But the Shadowland book seems to be written by somebody else it's so bad.

One thing is certain. The whole story is a ****. It's all over the place and no matter how hard you try, you can't really follow it.

I think after it's all done, if you read a Shadowland TPB, a DD TPB, the other books' TPBs, individually each will work and be quite alright. But any interconnecting has been a failure. Events out of chronological order, or it's so confusing you give up trying.

I rate this issue a B. Here's why:

Don't shortchange Foggy Nelson. Everyone in this mini, to one degree or another, has forsaken Matt, to the point now where they are all (apparently) ready to kill him.

Foggy hasn't. Yes, his comments may have become tired or repetitive throughout this event, but I feel it shows the strength & depth of his friendship with Matt. To Foggy, whatever Matt may done, for whatever reason, it can be forgiven and redeemed.

Can he scale a Japanese fortress wall? No, but what he said during that climb made it more plausible to me.

If this mini had gone the route it should have, then yes, the final scene would've been more dramatic, more chilling. The problem is, with DD being possessed by the Beast, I just don't feel the danger from him. Throughout this event, I've felt no fear, threat, or danger from him. He's a pale shadow of a villain. Thus his comments like this fall flat when I read them. I feel Foggy still has an important part to play in this. I just hope it doesn't get him killed.

The focus on the supporting cast here was great. Dakota, Becky, Kurtz, heck even His Honorable Mayor Jameson, all of it was intense and dramatic. If anything, the regular DD title has kept this event more grounded and tolerable. Else the whole thing would be complete rubbish.

I would take this art over Tan's work any day of the week. Great, gritty, moody atmosphere, simply fantastic.

Fully agree.

Feels like the Shadowland book is for misc/general Marvel fans to buy up.. its only use is the final page shocker every issue.. but the DD title is the story, and looking at it alone, it's good.

The real poison pill for every Shadowland book is Daredevil himself. If DD doesn't appear it will be a good book. If he does it may be the worst book of the week.
