|

Hello! I haven't visited these boards in quote a while, but have been a fan of DD since Forever!
Anyway, I was thumbing through my Daredevil Omnibus Companion and I noticed something odd about the cover of Daredevil #231 that I hadn't noticed before--there is a picture of Captain America's face where the Comics Code seal should be. I double checked my personal copies (both newsstand and direct versions) and neither has the code seal. I've always felt this issue was the most violent in the series--people getting shot left and right, pistol-whippings, hangings, nude bodies, graphic displays of drug use. Could it be the Code felt the same way? And why doesn't anybody else know about this, anyway? Perhaps Marvel felt the story was strong enough to go ahead with the series without the Code approval, but didn't want to make an issue about it publicly for fear of bad press regarding what is actually a fine piece of storytelling.
Any other thoughts on this? |

Isn't the code effectively dead now? Do comics even carry it anymore? _________________ JC

for the most part, the code is "effectively dead". marvel stopped submitting their comics for code approval a while back. i believe that a few publishers still submit. |
