Affleck did all that he could in the movie. He is a limited actor but he was a decent Matt ( but a not so good DD ).
If I had to choose a new actor for the part, then It would be...
Michael C Hall

( yes i'm a big fan of dexter but the man in himself is such a terrific actor. affleck was decent, but he isn't in the same league. ) |

Funny you should mention him. I always thought his "brother" from Six Feet Under, Peter Krause would have made a good Matt Murdock, if he was a bit younger. He certainly acted like Matt Murdock sometimes in Six Feet Under. Not sure if he could pull off the "costume" stuff.
Michael C Hall is an interesting choice though. _________________ Kuljit Mithra

From Supernatural to Life to Dexter, oh man, these are all strange choices for Matt Murdock. I just don't see these guys as MM. Wow. I think we're better off going with an unknown if this is the pool to choose from.
But, hey, if we're going with t.v. stars, there was a show called New Amsterdam on FOX, and the main actor, I thought, if he were a bit younger would make a pretty good MM

Nikolaj Coster Waldau is a Danish actor and one of my personal favs (and he can pull off just about any English accent flawlessly, from British to American so that's not a problem). I think he's smoking hot, but I'm not so sure he'd be right for the part. He's a very good actor though.
As far as natural redheads go, I always had a soft spot for Eric Stoltz, though he's far too old by now (born in 1961) and doesn't quite have the build for an action role anyway. He always did have a certain amount of versatility though, and I've seen him look very different depending on the role.
I think a total unknown would be great, or at least someone who's not a household name. Time will tell, I suppose. _________________ The Other Murdock Papers |

I didn't know this Nikolaj Coster Waldau, but I think he would make a good Matt Murdock. He reminds me of Lark's MM specifically. |

What do you guys think of ROME actor Kevin McKidd for the role of Matt Murdock/Daredevil?
He's my new favorite pick.
Some interesting background info is that McKidd's ROME co-star, Ray Stevenson, was originally approached by Marvel to play "Abomination" in THE INCREDIBLE HULK. When that didn't pan out, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige suggested Stevenson to PUNISHER: WAR ZONE director, Lexi Alexander, for the role of Frank Castle/The Punisher.
Since last year, Kevin McKidd has been rumored for the role of Thor for a solo movie. McKidd later commented that he believed Marvel was going in a different direction (younger actor) for the part and seemed to no longer be in the running. If FOX/Marvel were to reboot the DD franchise, what's to say Feige, as executive producer, wouldn't re-recommend another talented ROME actor for the title role? Perhaps that actor could be Kevin McKidd? _________________

We might as well bring back Ben Affleck...
They can do better than Josh H. |

That looks like a really good casting choice. _________________

Guy Pearce is definitively an excellent choice. Too bad he doesn't seem to be interested in superhero movies (seeing the previous rumors of him in the nolan franchise)
And why all the hype Josh Harnett when a superhero role is available ? He's far from the caliber of Guy Pearce and looks like a teenager. |

I have always wanted to see Guy Pearce as Matt eversince I saw LA Confidential years ago. But the guy veers away from superhero movies. So, if there is a God, I hope he puts Jason Behr or Josh Duhamel as Matt in a new DD movie.[http://imstars.aufeminin.com/stars/fan/jason-behr/jason-behr-20040816-7019.jpg] [/http://www.superstarcouples.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/josh_duhamel_.jpg] Actually, I won't mind seeing Ben Affleck back in the mantle. We just need an awwesome director. It's not like Christian Bale is the best Bruce Wayne/Batman right? _________________ "I'm only a DEVIL to those who are demonic." |

In my opinion, they need to stay away from big named stars. Vin Diesel would be 10 times worse than Ben Affleck and Josh Hartenet would be just as bad in the role as well.
For somebody to actually suggest Hartenet, you have either
A. Never read the comics
B. Never watched one his movies
His characteristic trait usually is being unsure of himself. Matt Murdock is quite the opposite.
Batman did an excellent job with this for Christian Bale. He's a movie star sure, but his fame didn't start to really pick up until he was Batman. |
