I just finished the Ultimates, last week, and I thought it was very good. There were emough different elements to keep things constantly interesting and the pacing (if you can ignore the delays) suited me to a T. I was particularly fond of what was done with the Thor character. I realize it's somewhat easier to reinvent a great character, then to invent one, but I felt that Captain America was made into all that he can be, to coin a phrase. I felt that Bryan Hitch's art was fantastic.
I haven't read alot of Millar's work, only 3 other things:

Civil War - has been much discussed on this board.
Marvel Knights Spider-Man (1-12) - I thought it was ridiculously easy to figure out who was behind the big plot. The guy who's always behind the complex plots. I read some people call this series, "Spider-Man Hush". I hadn't read Hush, at the time I read this story, but now can see the point. This series may also have suffered from poor timing. I felt there was an emotional conflict between the MKSM story and The Sins Past arc, which I know isn't everyone's cup of tea. Personally, I loved it.
Wanted - When I bought this, 2 different customers at the comic book store made a big deal out of this purchase. Apparently, it was "whack". I thought it was okay, perhaps a bit self-conscious and forced in its attempt to push the envelope.

Anyway, what do you guys think about this writer? What would you recommend (or not)?

Have you tried his run on Wolverine? It's good stuff, in my opinion.
Not the average "hah! I'm writing teh Wolverine!1!!" we're getting accustomed to.

It's funny you mention Wolverine. I'm 1 mycomicshop.com delivery away from reading that title, starting with the Claremont/Miller mini, to the Marvel Comics Presents stuff, through to today, with only 3 *%$@ issues missing. Is it the Enemy of the State arc, that was Millar's? Not having read any of this yet, Francesco, I had trouble interpreting something you said. Were you saying that many writers on Wolverine, try to put their own stamp on his backstory?

The Message Board is currently in read-only mode, as the software is now out of date. Several features and pages have been removed. If/When I get time I intend to re-launch the board with updated software.
