At the outset of hearing who the new creative team would be, I was cautiously optomistic. So far, I'd have to say that after three issues (including DD-The List), Andy Diggle has done a servicable job. I still get the feeling, though, that's he's feeling his way through the characters, situations and the whole of the Daredevil "world".

The art has been, for the most part, well done. It reminds me a bit of Maleev and Lark, seen through a Jae Lee filter. The work certainly fits the previously established Daredevil asthetic.

But what has blown me away has been the colors by Matt Hollingsworth. His work continues to be of extraordinarily high quality. In DD# 502, the combination of his colors and De la Torre's art seem to have hit their stride... already in only their second issue together! Simply amazing.

I have full faith that Andy Diggle will blaze his path and make Matt his own.

All in all, at this point, I'd have to give the new creative team a B+

I agree with you on Hollingsworth. Despite the changing art teams of the last few years (Maleev to Lark/Gaudiano to De La Torre), his colours have helped to give the book a really consistent look and feel.

Sad to say, but if I hadn't read your observation, I would have missed it! Spot on!

The dream sequence worked for me. Lasted just long enough to get a feel of it's direction. I think Jumonji makes a valid point about it though. It's strange to see him wake up on the throne.

Otherwise, I thought this was another good issue. Matt taking action against Osborn in the best way he knows how, by taking it to the streets.

Diggle may have his reasons story-wise for revealing Izo to be alive so soon. Based on their dialogue, Matt and Izo seem at odds over what to do with the Hand now that Matt is in charge. That tension should add an interesting dynamic to the story now.

Also, something tells me that I don't want to know what those goons did with the rat and the Owl.......

It's cool to read letters from people I 'know'. Congrats on that. Of course, it's great to see a letters page anyway. There's nothing wrong with old-fashioned communication. Smile

I'm a big fan of the new team already, even though this particular issue felt a little "choppy" to me.

Regarding the dream sequence, there's something off about it which makes me suspect that Matt is possibly receiving these images from somewhere or someone, particularly since he comments that the dream has a different quality to it compared to his regular dreams. As for the women appearing in this scene, I don't think their appearances should be taken too literally, they are there for the readers' benefit. If he can in fact see them as they actually appear, then that only fuels my suspicion that this is no ordinary dream. In fact, was I the only one who found it odd that he woke up from the dream sitting on the throne? Why would he just fall asleep like that? Strange, I tell you!

wow..thats a great point..

I think you're onto something..the more I think about it the dream sequence was weird...something is going on there I think...
