I thought that all the people at the firm knew about it. Darn it... I thought that Becky knew, too, but...Does she? |
I'm going the TPB route here so I haven't read the last two issues, but certainly everyone should know. I mean, with Dakota feeding him information while in Europe, and Becky handling his defense and helping him lift the suspension on his license to practice law. Wouldn't it be incredibly bad form not to be honest to the lawyer who is representing you? I even thought her jokingly calling him "handicapable" in the last issue of The Devil Takes a Ride was a dead giveaway. I'd be disappointed in both Matt and Foggy if it turned out that the people around them didn't know. It would also be, as I said, completely illogical. _________________ The Other Murdock Papers |

The argument against that would be plausible deniability: legally, if he tells her that he is guilty, she can't represent him. By not telling her the truth outright (even if it's obvious, and everyone essentially 'knows'), Matt allows her to defend him without incriminating herself. |

And I just thought of another thing as well. He doesn't even bother hiding that he knows it's Foggy out in the hall long before anyone else has a clue when Foggy "comes back from the dead." It just seems like everyone would have to know, but maybe without, as you (Dave) say, having been told about it explicitly. _________________ The Other Murdock Papers |

Yes, as you say, with all what's been going on, I was quite surprised that Matt attempted to deny Dakota's assertion of him being Daredevil in last issue (incidentally, her answer to him is just priceless )
As for Becky, I recall her arguing in favour of taking Melvin Potter's defense back in #95 "Do you really want to turn your back on him because you're worried about more bad press? Because that doesn't seem to be stopping Daredevil from going out every night"... so I'll say she definitely knows
On the other hand, Dave has brought up out a valid argument on her representing Matt and not knowing, but you're right that both Dakota and Becky are there when Matt rises and "feels" Foggy is back... So there they would be at least pretty aware that Matt was no ordinary blind guy.
Foggy's advice to Lily Lucca in #99 "You know not to talk about any of that outside this office, right?" also suggests that people inside the office knows. _________________ Gloria

And another thing: Ben and Dakota's trying to track down the new (Danny Rand) Daredevil during Brubaker's first arc, also makes it pretty clear that she knows. Maybe Matt's denial has to do with a fear of surveillance or something. I know he can pick up on standard issue stuff*, but what if they're being taped from across the street by some expert lip-reader or something. Just an idea. Darn it, where's Brubaker when you need him? Maybe he could clear this up...
*which also reminds me of how he waits to talk to Becky until they're in the elevator to get away from surveillance (which he mentions to her, btw) when discussing the Gladiator case. _________________ The Other Murdock Papers |

Yes, this makes a lot of sense... good example!
Then, it would be wise for Matt and his gang to start using a secret language or code of internaal communications _________________ Gloria

I may be beating a dead horse here, but a clear example of Matt treating Dakota(!) as if she knew he's Daredevil is when he's having coffee with her while waiting for Lily, and he says: "Lily Lucca is about to walk in." (#97)
As for secret languages, maybe they should all learn a modified version of that Navajo code used during WWII.
Anyway, sorry everyone for going off-topic in this thread. _________________ The Other Murdock Papers |

Breaking into a guarded building to snuggle with your girlfriend? Awesome. Really, if nothing else had happened in this issue, I would have loved it for that clever mix of superheroism and humanity. The rest is icing. |
