With DC's Batman/Superman on the shelves would anyone like to see Spidey and Hornhead on a monthly? And if so who would you like to see writing and drawing? Personally these are my two favorite Marvel heroes so I would be all for it. I would like see John Romita JR and Mark Millar team up for this. Won't happen but a fanboy can dream! _________________ Sticking feathers up your butt does not make you a chicken. |

I would not like this. Although Matt and Spidey have had some great adventures together, Daredevil is not a team player. I just don't think it would work out. I wouldn't mind another miniseries, though. |

Not sure if I would consider two characters a team book. It's worked in mini-series I don't see why it wouldn't work as an on going but you are right that DD does not belong on a team which is why I don't get why they think he will be good on the Defenders TV Mini-Series when it's never worked in the comics. _________________ Sticking feathers up your butt does not make you a chicken. |

What I meant by not working well on teams is that he doesn't work well with others in general for a long period of time. Even if you go way back into the 70's he doesn't work well with Black Widow. At first it works but as I recall he hit her at least once, if not more. He had to be in control and she would just have to be a sidekick. He couldn't have a partner. He needed someone weaker that would do whatever he wanted. That's why she left. I just can't see Daredevil having a long term team up with spiderman and it ending well. Plus Matt's apparently moving back to San Francisco so he and Spidey wouldn't even be in the same state.
As for Defenders, I completely agree with you. I'm exited for the Daredevil series but not what it leads up to. I especially don't like the name. None of those people were ever(as far as I know) on that team in the comics. Why not at least call it heroes for hire since they're making a Dr. Strange movie(are they?). They will probably be like more like heroes for hire than Defenders.
Just my opinions. Feel free to make an argument. |

I wouldn't mind.
I probably wouldn't buy it if Millar was on it, though...:/

Iron Fist was on the team in the last volume, which was written by Matt Fraction. Luke Cage was on the team for a time. And I've seen some panels of Daredevil in one of their series, but I don't know how many issues he appeared in.
I understand why Marvel is using the name. It's probably catchier than Heroes for Hire. And they likely won't all be teaming up until the mini-series so it probably wouldn't make sense to call it that. (And besides, DD and Jessica Jones were never in Heroes for Hire that I can recall.) And the comics and MCU are different things anyway... |

Yeah, I haven't ever really followed Defenders so I didn't know. I only know about the original old school ones. I just don't understand why they need to call it that and why they need to come together at all. I guess because it will make more money. I should probably just let it go, accept it, and be happy they're making a DD show. |

I think they work well only if they meet every once in a while. |

I liked them together when I was a kid, but I've gotten tired of it, and I'd like to think that Matt has outgrown hanging out with the perpetual adolescent Spider-Man, and playing straight man to Peter's banter. Spider-Man's greater strength always relegates Matt to second place, and unlike Superman/Batman or Green Lantern/Green Arrow, I don't think they've ever established anything... gadgets, special skills, ideology... that equalizes them. Although Spider-Man has a way of dominating no matter who he's teamed with. Matt works best alone, with female partners, or occasional encounters with grown-ups like Luke Cage.
The Defenders was the name of a lawyer show in the sixties, and that's what it always means to me, not the never much good Defenders comic. I would have preferred Heroes for Hire. |

I probably would prefer a Moon Knight Daredevil team up or a Daredevil Iron Fist Luke Cage team up book |

I wouldn't mind a Spider-Man/Daredevil series, but I do think both characters, when written correctly, are loners. Stan Lee said as much about Spider-Man. That's why he never made him an Avenger. There was an early X-Men issue where Professor X told Beast or somebody like that to recruit Spider-Man, and Spidey turned them down.
But historically, they have worked well together.
Another problem is that Spider-Man seems to have been pretty shoddily written for a few years now. No one cares about Spider-Octopus. When Peter does officially come back, I don't know if things will improve that much. The conspiracy theorist in me alleges that Marvel is trying to ruin Spider-Man so Sony will give back the film rights. Someone... prove me wrong. |

The last Spider Man didn't do so well from what I heard so they might be succeeding. |

What are you basing that on? The last Spider-Man movie made over 700 million dollars, that seems like a successful film to me. The last Spider-Man film was decent, it was not amazing, but it wasn't bad either, it was alright, I liked way more then Spider-Man 3, but felt it recycled too much from Spider-Man 1 in its first act.
Also Sony doesn't want to intentionally ruin Spider-Man just so Marvel can't get the rights back. Putting money into sure fire bombs is a bad business plan.

Superior Spider-Man sells pretty well.
And like The Overlord said, the last movie did just fine. |
