Love this issue...it is so sick. This mystery villain is sick!

It's something never heard of from any DD tales of the past. But Maximum Clonage and Spider Island sorta comes to mind. LOL!

Mystery is set, the funnies is here, action, and drama at the end. Waid is doing really good with DD.

This is far from Waid's usual greatness in my opinion. The stuff with the guys in the orange jumpsuits bothered me. I really hate it when writers in comics create characters who can do what the hero can do. To me it makes the hero less special. That being said, Daredevil handled it well, but I'm not a fan of that development.

Also, the last panel of the previous issue seemed to be a declarative statement from Foggy, but this entire issue was about waiting for the test results. I think we could have just started with the test results being in, and not lost very much. Some powerful scenes nevertheless.

This issue was all about the art for me. Samnee and colourist, Rodriguez, are a perfect team. Just stunning! I think this is Samnee's best cover so far.
As for the story, it did feel like a jumping on point, but the level of detail in which Matt's origin is being replicated by this villain has me hooked. That last page was really heartbreaking.

great beginings to what is hopefully a great story, let's make this a good long story not just the standard arc of 5-6 chapters.

The art has decreased slightly as of the previous issue, it feels a bit too controlled to me, i think it's the inks that are to bold. Just something i can't put my finger on.

I am looking forward to seeing this story play out, two great stories unravelling at once...the people trying to tap into DD's power and Foggy getting ill.

I feel the same, in a way. This would seem to imply that Matt's accident was not singular nor unique. Although it appears it took many tests for this mystery villain to replicate the result, I feel like this makes Matt less unique in a way.

This could tie into Waid's new exploration of Matt's abilities though as seen in Doom's experiments and Pym's test results afterwards. So I'm intrigued to see where Waid is going with this.

Samnee continues to stun and amaze with his work. The last few pages, with little dialogue, he nails the facial expressions perfectly. I felt my own heartbeat racing as I read it. Very powerful emotional stuff here, love it.

Also loved the Born Again reference in Matt and Foggy's rooftop talk.

Another terrific issue.

Although I have been enjoying Waid's work so far, this issue was probably the least liked for me. The idea of a master villian recreating the accident that caused Matt to go blind and gain powers seemed ridiculous to me. I mean, the reenactment even included a fork lift (?) instead of a much simpler experiment such as just spraying the stuff in the orange jumpsuit guy's faces with a spray bottle. A forklift? And then it didn't seem to faze Matt much to fight a bunch of his pseudo doppelgangers who he knows was created in his image by the mysterious bad guy? To me, Matt gaining his powers through a fluke should never have been able to be recreated.

Comics, Sci Movies, etc always require us to suspend belief and I usually do that without thinking, but when you mess with an origin story, it bothers me more often than not.

Perfect issue of DD for me, great artwork, cool new mystery (is it me or is it not really being replicated successfully? did they not say that?) emotional scenes with Foggy were brilliant, great action scenes, can't fault it.

Great stuff Mr Waid and co!

I voted 1, it has been too long since Waid wrote something which truly impressed me, I'm sick of the Foggy-Matt bromance and the whole story about cancer fails to impress me, no matter how dramatic they're trying to make it seem.

Also, I didn't like how Waid used one of the most dramatic moments in DD's history to make a gratuituous (and not that funny) in-joke.

I admit it -- I am the one that voted 5 stars for this issue.

I am a big fan of the soap opera that is Daredevil. It's similar to the way that I love Spider-Man. I feel like I have to know what's happening to the cast.

What's going on with Foggy? Dakota? Mr. Fear? And so on...

Plus, I love the build up to the big question -- who's been dogging Matt? (I'm hoping Mr. Fear!)

Anyway,
Tom

All i can think of since i read it, is that Foggy is sick!! I feel sad... As i said before i know he is a fictional character but it is really sad for me to read a story like this one!! It is a good issue though... 4/5
