I ask this question because of the recently announced Punisher Nightmare mini-series, which some are calling a horror series.

I would absolutely love to see Matt in a more "chilling" situation than he is used to. I don't exactly mean demons and ghosts or anything seen in Ghost Rider, but I was thinking of more realistic horrors like creepy houses, psycho-killers, lots of blood etc...

There were a few slight instances in Redemption that I found pretty creepy and I thought it worked really well.

Picture it: Matt trapped in a Victorian styled mansion in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by several demented Satan worshiping psychopaths wielding knives, chainsaws, and other rusty metals.

I dont know, but it seems like a pretty cool idea to me.

although not out and out horror stuff alot of the diggle stuff towards the end of vol 2 containded some of this 'demon/horror' stuff.

And i think a team up with ghost rider, punisher, moon knight and some more street level heroes is long over due as i loved the marvel knights story-line in ultimate spider-man

While I enjoyed Redemption, I never thought of it as horror. If you're talking about a creepy serial killer, I would enjoy that. However, if you mean supernatural stuff, I never thought that was a good fit for Daredevil, so I would likely not enjoy that.

No, not supernatural or anything that would feel out of place in DD, but like I said, something abit more realistic. I'm probably thinking thriller/borderline-horror like Silence of the Lambs or something.

Although, I don't think the radical horror elements used in DD before have been all that bad. Mephisto in Guardian Devil was great.

The closest thing I can think of is someone like Batman's foe, Victor Zaszx(?), a demented psychotic serial-killer who scars himself after every kill. Having someone like that threaten Hell's Kitchen would be interesting.

As for actual horror, maybe something like a Cthulu-type story. A cult worshiping an ancient evil, kidnapping innocents, using them as sacrifices, part of their plan to summon their evil god back into being. I like the elements of the supernatural without actually showing those elements, if you know what I mean. Showing the possibility of such evil existing is more chilling than actually seeing it.

I absolutely loved Decalogue (Bendis, 71-75). While not a straight up horror story, it had a terrific horror ending and the suspense leading up to it was paced very well. An underrated part of the Bendis run. It reads well collected because of the slow pacing. I'd love to read a DD ghost story. I think it would make for an interesting read to see how a writer would handle DD's senses with a ghost in the room.

I don't think you need a DD title dedicated to horror in of itself, but having the occasional horror related story would be good.

I think DD could use some more serial killer villains, he has enough crime boss and hit men villains, so it would be nice to see a different aspect of crime in DD titles.

Mr. Hyde should be less of a goofy super villain and more of a gruesome serial killer. Mr. Hyde is supposed to be pure evil, his crimes should be truly twisted. I think you can easily have horror like stories based around him, his savagery would make his crimes more personal and brutal then other DD villains.

Also with the Hand you can add super natural elements to a story whenever you want.

So there already elements in DD's mythos that can be used to create horror related stories, it just takes a clever writer to use them.

I think its a great idea. They can certainly us a ghost/spirit story or other.

I'm not sure if you consider this to be horror but I came up with an idea for a commission that would include Mephisto and Man-Thing vs DD.

If you want to look at it please go to http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=940704&GSub=135001

The reason I did this was because I wanted to see DD out of his usual element. I think its important for a character to be exposed to a little bit of everything (to a point) and still stick to his roots such as the NY streets.

I think it's a great idea! I think supernatural is fine as long as it's executed with reality in mind (near dark). a great kick off would be matt rescuing Milla from the asylum because some villain attacks the place freeing and making the patients free and dangerous somehow. like a weird 28 days later meets Arkham Asylum, with a little trippiness. just a thought.

Yeah I have recently gotten into a lot of DC's Vertigo stuff which a lot of it is horror/fantasy material, so I am kinda in the mood for it lately and having my fav. horned superhero running around in his own mystery/horror comic would be pretty cool. It should be done through Marvel's MAXX imprint though.
