My memories of these characters go all the way back to the 60s, when Marvel was the antidote to super-heroes with kid sidekicks named Robin and Speedy. That the only one of these in the MU was dead was a bracing dose of maturity, and I never accepted bringing him back, however updated. Plus, his death was the most meaningful outside of Uncle Ben's. I also have memories of DD and BW's long partnership, and it's grating to see her with a character I regard as a child. I don't know what will happen next issue... they might not even really fight, but worst case scenario is DD gets beaten up again and BW rescues him. It's what I've come to expect from Marvel in their regard for DD's prowess.
