I figure gunned down in some final battle for the fate of Hells Kitchen. it's just the "by who" is the question. My money is either on Fisk or Urich. Fisk is a fair option as he is the villain of all DD villains but Urich sits in the back of my mind as he narrates the tale being last one alive and Matt may do something to force his hand to act and make the hard choice. i hope it's a significant death since we've been waiting all these years for this story. Any theories?

Perhaps Bendis will do something unexpected, perhaps DD will be killed by some C-list villain like Jester or Leap-Frog or perhaps even die at the hands of some random punk. Shocked

I'm ever hopeful that this will finally signal a maturation of the regular series. The Coyote cover looks that way, but it's been promised over and over, and it's been all let downs and reversion to comic book fun. Also, how many issues is this series, and is it finished or will we be waiting an indefinite number of months for a conclusion?

I am one of the very few who hate the current series. The majority of people seems to love the happy go luck cartoony stuff, so don't get your hopes it man.I miss my dark brooding Daredevil.

You get excited because it has some of the best DD contributors of all time working on the one title. You get excited because this story is set 10 years from now, which means it's 10 years until DD gets knocked off and just like Dark Knight Returns we never get closer to that date.

In terms of whodunnit, I'm not feeling the Ben Urich angle since my impression of this series is that Ben's solving the mystery of why somebody's killed DD and if he did it he would know. Unless it's a confession of why he did it. The idea that it's Leap Frog is interesting because it has been described as an ending to that Bendis/Mack story done all those years ago and we never did see the body.

Until I hear a better idea (because I can't think of one) I'm going with the odds on favourite, Fisk.

I agree I hate the idea of this story, we want to see DD as the guy who can overcome all the odds, the guy who bounces back from anything, he is a superhero, they should be immortal!
I think if you do this story and make it cannon then it will very soon date and start to be a bit silly as technology etc advances.
Also Bendis being involved makes me worry, he has no idea how to deal with DDs powers, he routinely ignored them and DD was caught in situations which he had escaped from 100 times thanks to the aforementioned powers.

Thus we will get our hero DD killed off in a stupid way in an old fashioned world and be told it IS what happens. Its terrible, really awful.

Ps I do hope I am wrong on all these points but I doubt I will be.

Bendis can say "oh it will be the true, official, canon end to DD" as much as he wants. repeat it to any online comic website he wants. stress it as much as he wants.
It won't make it so.
Daredevil, as a concept, a character, is so much bigger than Bendis, who is just a good writer. Daredevil has survived and evolved beyond Stan Lee, his creator, and Miller, his best writer. Boasting that is's the canonical ending story just won't make it so. People reading DD are already starting to forget whatever Bendis has written in his run, new readers at best just know that he has had him unmask.
See you in ten years. DD will still be around acting independently from this supposed canonical ending, which will be relegated to be be just one of the many miniseries featuring DD.

I'll be picking this up only because I'm looking forward to seeing Janson work on DD again.

After that, I pretty much agree with some of the stuff said already, it'll be as 'canon' as anyone wants to make it, eg 'not very' like Daredevil:Target.

Im not a fan of the Bendis DD stuff at all but I am willing to give this a try, just for the concept of it at least. A story about the end of Daredevil, I got to see what thats like. I cannot see this ever being the real end to DD anyways. it is his Dark Knight Returns elseworlds tale I think. Plus Klaus Jansen drawing Daredevil again, sign me up for that. Smile
