I feel this is the strongest of the SHADOWLAND issues so far. Lots of interesting places this story can go towards... especially that last page. Just wondering what's Elektra's angle on that.

Definitely agreed. LOVED the stuff with the Punisher. I thought that the fight scene between DD and the "heroes" was well done too. I'm also really interested as to how Moon Knight is going to play into this. Solid issue overall.

I haven't really been following DD for a while now - since the Shadowland event started, really - but I heard a couple of details of this latest issue and it sounded quite disappointing to me.

Am I right in thinking that Matt has been possessed by a demon, and that's why he's been taking so many morally-questionable actions lately? If so, it seems like a slightly underwhelming way to build on years of such strong character development under Bendis and Brubaker.

Aw man, you guys are making me want to buy it... I bought Scarlet #2 (okay) and Punisher Max: Happy Ending (good) instead.

Sorry people, she sums it up perfectly

The main Shadowland series has been getting worse and worse.
She was being generous with a 4 out of 10

That's a great review. Nice one, Christine.

I don't think I would give it a 4, but I still am enjoying the main DAREDEVIL title more than SHADOWLAND itself. It's funny, but I thought this issue was better than the first two (I thought #2 was more moving pieces into place than anything else).

I'm growing more and more disappointed with Shadowland with each issue, and I think Diggle has been quite sloppy. An example:

In issue number two, Kingpin summons something called a "Zugaikotsu." He mentions something about "vengeance" to it. And you never see what it looks like. Several pages later, Ghost Rider roars through Shadowland.

On the recap page of issue #3, it says that Kingpin summoned Ghost Rider.

Now I've never read Ghost Rider, and I never saw the movie. But it seems rather cheap to me to be unclear in issue two, and use the recap page for issue number three to shed light on things. I also think that a lot of readers wouldn't have been able to figure out that the cab driver in issue number two was Moon Kight. I also don't know what Moon Knight's powers are based on what I've seen in the last two issues.

Also, I'm sure that the Beast is the same Beast from Elektra: Assassin, which was published almost a quarter of a century ago. How many people are going to understand this. I'm pretty sure that most non-DD readers are finding Shadowland hard to follow.

You are right, and it seems like a very cheap way to build on years of strong character development.

So, how's this going to end? Matt kills himself to save the world from the beast?

With all due respect, Daredevil is 510 issues old.

What makes his stories so good is that he has such history to draw from and reference. I'm glad they're not ignoring all that just so new fans can jump on a six issue mini, then drop it after.

My comic shop had a sale so I caved and bought Shadowland #3. To my surprise, I'm actually buying into the whole Beast thing with Matt being possessed. It ties directly into Frank Miller's run and Elektra Assassin. The delivery definitely has more downs than ups, but I'm back into the story 100%.

The only problem is with each issue the ending seems more predictable. Either Elektra is going to kill DD, or DD's going to commit suicide. Either way, I'm actually okay with it now. Seems like a good ending to volume 2.

Ghost Rider, Spirit of Vengeance, his tag-line for the last ten, twenty years. That along with the onslaught of promos for this event and I don't think it'd be that hard to piece together that's who Kingpin summoned (which I thought was pretty cool actually).

The half-crescent moon on his caption boxes helped me identify Moon Knight ( a nifty idea ). If nothing else, this mini is increasing my interest in the character.

Good fight issue, nice to see some acknowledgment that Danny and Shang-Chi are (apparently) the two greatest hand-to-hand combat fighters in the MU. What I don't like is the cop-out to what I thought was the main point of this mini, the corruption of Matt.

Yes, he may be corrupted enough that an ancient spirit of evil can now possess him, but I thought this was about Matt reaching his breaking point and beyond. About Matt turning to the dark side and fulfilling that lost promise of being a terrible villain. Now, it can be swept under the rug by saying it was all the Beast's fault.

Doesn't that undermine the tragedy of the whole story??
