At the Comic Con the image of Nova was shown with the tag "the new Man without Fear" Thoughts? New DD or misdirection?

"In the aftermath of Daredevil's darker turn in Shadowland, Nova is the new Man Without Fear — Marvel produced an image of the hero swooping over New York City."

http://io9.com/5594190/sdcc-2010-mondo-marvel-panel-ultimate-doom-new-captain-america-and-groot/gallery/

I haven't found the image they're referring to and it doesn't really make it clear if he's in the DD costume, just the new protector of Hell's Kitchen or if he's the new holder of the title because of the things that will happen in Shadowland. No matter wha the scenario is, it seems really stupid to me.

Rebranding a Green Lantern knock off with it just comes off as an ill-conceived publicity stunt. Probablt all it is is a publicity stunt. Guess they'll do anything they can to push Nova.

A new teaser with Gambit was shown today in the X-Men panel, so I expect Marvel will produce many teasers like how they did with Black Panther.

What would be the point?

Who in New York City, Hell's Kitchen no less, could compete with Nova?

The man ended The Annihilation War by ripping the insides from Annihilus' body. What are crooks and gangsters gonna do?

I'D be The Man without Fear if I had Nova's powers.

"You! Hold it right there...erm...Worldmind?", "It's Owl, Richard.", "OWL! Stop right there!"

No.

Also, they've just confirmed there will be a new "Man without Fear" after Shadowland. Not sure what that means.

I really **** hope they don't tinker with Daredevil. He's been the most solid Marvel title since Kevin Smith's run. Nothing needs to be shuffled that much.

Agreed. DD has been consistently great for a solid 10 years. There is absolutely no reason to tinker with him like they did Spidey (*shudder* I'm still mad about that). DD may not have the number of fans that some characters ahve, but the ones he does have are fanatical. Doing anything too drastic would be the dumbest thing Marvel could do for DD.

Quesada posted two more images of who will be the next Man without Fear: Black Panther and Kraven the Hunter. He said we will know who he will be by the end of Shadowland.

Hello. I'm a long time lurker, first time poster.
I've been collecting various comic titles for over 15 years. DD is by far my favorite comic character. I've got almost every DD story in one format or another.
I hope this gimmick is some sort of misdirection on Marvels part, but given their track record I doubt it. Daredevil has been one of, if not ,THE best book Marvel has published for more than a decade precisely because they avoided things like this. DD has been my favorite character for a long time and I can say without hesitation I will drop the title if this crap happens. I would hope other readers would do the same. If you don't then you're part of the problem. I've already dropped most everything else I used to collect from Marvel. Marvel and DC both seem to be bringing back the same gimmicks that nearly destroyed the industry in the 90s.

I totally agree. One of the reasons I've liked DD so much is that he hasn't been subject to these big "events" and now he's the subject of one of his own. Very sad.
