Who do we write to complain about that choice for the DD cover? Ugh! There are other DD/Elektra covers that are so much better designed (and don't have the 10 speed bike giveaway) than that one.

They are kidding, right?

Not only that, but what the hell's the deal with Elektra having to be on it? If you read it the news bit, it actually says that initially it was an "Elektra" stamp, and DD just happened to be added to it (it's about as ridiculous as including Black Cat on the Spidey one). It's wierd how a character with such a rich history of writers just doesn't get respect, much less translate to Joe Public. Sad.

I have to agree with you. It makes me a little angry that they're choosing that cover. Kirigi? Sure he's a good character, but is he that essential to the DD mythos that he should be included in the stamp? I'd imagine it was a rather difficult decision eliminating issue 12 from the running. They really wanted to get Ka'Zar in there.

Okay Fine. I can accept that the stamp has to have some type of mass appeal. Whatever. However, choose a cover that is a little more representative of the character or the overall DD story. Now I know there has already been a posting citing the best Daredevil covers, but let's go over this in a different way.

I have three suggestions for the new Daredevil Stamp. Now, it can be argues that these may not be the best covers, but I think they would make better stamp selections:

Cover # 300

Cover # 62 (Vol. 2)

If you have to have Elektra in the stamp, cover 181. At least it has Bullseye too.

Any thoughts?

I had to go a' googling to see what you guys were talking about but from what I read it's supposed to be an Elektra stamp rather than a Daredevil one. In any case, 176 does seem a weird choice, I much prefer the previous issue cover.

Favourite Elektra cover choice? MIght seem a weird one but Bill Sienkiewicz issue 4 of Elektra Assassin. Elektra and Garrett and lots of gun slinging cherubs in shades, in an embrace reminiscent of the Prizzi's Honor poster.

Favourite Daredevil cover choice? No idea where to begin! I once had a few scanned and blown up in frames, Kirby's Dardevil fighting Captain America was one and another with Black Widow tied up and Kraven pouncing on a Daredevil wondering aloud 'I know Kraven is lurking somewhere but where?' Might not be entirely accurate but feeling too lazy to look it up. Anyway I was going for colourful and poppy, I wonder what the criteria are for what cover makes a good stamp? Does it look good miniaturised? Will someone want to lick it? I'm intrigued. Shame we won't get them over here.

Kuljit has thumbnails of all the covers here:

Shame they didn't ask the fans about this.

Who is an isn't on it aside it's just a really crap cover. The art is all wonky and the placement of everyone is just confusing.

Really crappy choice.

Why pick the worst cover from the Miller era? That is ridiculous!

I've noticed the marketing department at Marvel seems to be more obsessed with Elektra than DD, which is odd if for no other reason than comparing how many Marvel issues each has been in, etc. I think it's just a shallow sex appeal kind of thing. Where's Marvel's Wonder Woman?

That's leads me into the odd choice of a Spider-Woman stamp, considering all the other stamps (sans Elektra) are for characters at the very heart of Marvel from the Marvel Age. ...Why not an Avengers stamp? If you're going to go with a silver age character, why not Wolverine, Punisher, etc.? Why Spider-Woman? ...Is this a Bendis conspiracy? Is he obsessed with Spider-Woman like Quentin Tarintino (sp?) is obsessed with Uma Thurman? Razz

Are Wolverine and Punisher actually silver age? I thought early marvel stuff was silver age. Like, Sandman is golden age and Spiderman is silver age.

Stamp still sucks.

Wow, they just shot DD right off his own cover! Pffft! What a bunch of wankers at the post office! Evil or Very Mad

Definitely a deal here to attract more fanboys with the sexy Elektra, eh? At least, yes, it is a good closeup.

While I don't agree with all the choices of characters to profile and the covers they used I'll still buy them.

Elektra, for some wierd reason, is more readily available (in merchandise, in video games, etc.) than Daredevil, despite the fact that she was completely oversaturating Marvel comics for the early half of this decade. Even Quesada realized this, when her readership fell WAY off and they killed her book. Daredevil, on the other hand, is a consistently popular character, even if not in a mind-blowing way. Not only that, but many DD fans - like Punisher fans - will attack any piece of merch with his initials on it. Eventually, Marvel will get it. Quesada's no retard, and a huge DD fan besides. Daredevil may have a sort of 'cult' fan base, but the thing about cult fan bases is that they will buy absolutely anything with the logo on it.

...if you don't believe me, just ask George Lucas.

What the heck is that all about? If you want an Elektra cover, USE an Elektra over. Using a DD cover and changing the logo is so wrong.
